Stay "Hoppy" With Craft Beer From Home!

The bars may be closed, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy an ice-cold pint. We’ll show you below how to brew your own delicious craft beer from home in three simple steps.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • Brewing kettle

  • Fermenting bucket (and a device to seal it)

  • A cooling apparatus or ice water (for chilling the wort)

  • Siphon (and optionally, a funnel)

  • Stirring Spoon (for mixing)

  • Sanitizer (the cleanliness of your equipment is key to a high-quality brew)

  • A pre-made recipe kit (or ingredients including malt extract, hops, and yeast)

Once you’ve gathered all the ingredients, you’re ready to get started!

Step 1—Brewing:

  1. Add your grains to water preheated to 155 °F, stir, and let sit for 60 minutes

  2. Meanwhile, heat a large pot of water to 180 °F and rinse your grains in this pot

  3. Remove the bag of grains and bring the water to a boil for 60 minutes adding barley & hops

Cool your beer down to 65 °F using a chiller or ice water. At this time moving forward, take extra care to make sure that all surfaces and points of contact are fully sanitized.

Step 2—Fermenting:

  1. Transport to your beer fermenter and add water

  2. Aerate your beer and add dry yeast

  3. Seal your fermenter and allow it to ferment at room temperature for 2 weeks

After your beer has fermented you’re almost done. Time for the finishing touches.

Step 3—Finishing:

  1. Boil your priming sugar & add to the bottling bucket (this will help your beer carbonate)

  2. Siphon your beer (removing all sediment in the fermenter) landfill your bottles to the top

  3. Add the caps to your bottles and store them to carbonate for roughly 2 weeks

Once these 2 weeks are up, you’ll be ready to enjoy responsibly!
